From April 6 to 13, the city of Chirchiq became the center of national and international weightlifting competitions, as it hosted the Uzbekistan Championship among seniors and youth, as well as the open “Uzbekistan Open” tournament. Notably, 29 teams with nearly 350 athletes participated, including delegations from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye. The participation of these foreign teams not only elevated the prestige of the event but also provided invaluable international exposure to young Uzbek athletes preparing for global competitions.

In the men’s -61 kg weight category, 35 athletes competed – the highest participation for men. For women, the -55 kg weight class saw 18 athletes, making it the most competitive division among female participants.
Khorezm region led with the largest number of athletes (32), followed by Samarkand (26) and Tashkent region (25), reflecting strong regional engagement.
In total, 16 new national records were set – 12 by women and 4 by men. Among the record-breakers were Rushaniya Kamzina, Nigora Abdullayeva, Shakhlo Abdullayeva, Nigora Suvonova, Madina Fayzullayeva, Shakhnoza Khaydarova, Khusinboy Matrasulov, and Abdulaziz Alimjanov, who not only earned top places in their respective weight classes but also rewrote the national records.
