Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan

The first Weightlifting Club in Uzbekistan was opened in 1917 in Tashkent, it was called “Tashkent Weightlifting Society”. Feoktist Gorizdro is the founder of Weightlifting in Uzbekistan. The Weightlifting Federation has been operating in Uzbekistan since 1991.

The Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan is a member of the International Weightlifting Federation – IWF (1993), the Asian Weightlifting Federation – AWF (1994). Since then, the priority tasks of the federation include not only the achievement of high sports results by the country’s weightlifters on the international stage, but also the education of young people who are well-rounded and physically strong.

Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan is an independent non-governmental, non-profit organization, promoting weightlifting in the Republic, attracting large sections of the population to the sport of weightlifting, participating in world championships, international tournaments, and the Olympic Games. for the purpose of training highly qualified athletes, as well as to protect and represent the legal interests of its members.

The Federation conducts its activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, laws, decrees, orders, decisions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, decisions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, orders of the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other regulatory and legal documents, including It is conducted on the basis of the laws “On Public Associations of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and “On Non-Governmental Non-Commercial Organizations” and the Charter of the Federation.

The Federation cooperates with the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and other sports organizations to organize and develop weightlifting in the country.

Weightlifting is a sport in Uzbekistan

Athletics is one of the sports that is rapidly gaining popularity in our country. More than 5,000 people are engaged in weightlifting across the country, almost half of them are girls. In addition, about 300 trainers are working throughout the Republic. Our athletes proudly raise the flag of Uzbekistan in the world arenas by participating in national and international competitions. Qualified trainers and teachers are training our weightlifters. Today, weightlifting sections are successfully operating in 15 training centers for Olympic and Paralympic sports across the Republic and in all regions of the Republic. Each region is holding its own championships, according to their results, the strongest weightlifters will participate in the championship and cup of Uzbekistan, and the selected athletes will adequately defend the honor of Uzbekistan on the international stage.

Results

As part of the CIS national team, S.Sirsov took part in the XXV Olympic Games (Barcelona, ​​Spain) and won a silver medal in the competition of athletes up to 90 kg.

The Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan became an official member of the International Weightlifting Federation. Since 1993, the national team of Uzbekistan began to participate as an independent team in the Asian, world championships, Olympic Games. A. Manushev (+105 kg) won a gold medal at the World Junior Championship (Poland) in the same year. He achieved 167.5 kg in deadlift and 205 kg in deadlift.

XII Asian Games were held in Hiroshima (Japan). 5 weightlifters participated in the delegation of Uzbekistan. Among them, D. Frolov (-100 kg) and I. Khalilov (108 kg) won bronze medals. As a result, the national team of Uzbekistan took the proud 6th place among 24 Asian countries.

The World Weightlifting Championship was held in China (Olympic qualifier). Uzbek weightlifters also took part in this competition: V. Yansky (56 kg) took 12th place, A. Orinov (94 kg) took 11th place, V. Manushev (108 kg) took 16th place. The national team of Uzbekistan took 16th place among 116 countries and won 5 tickets to the Olympic Games.

3 of our athletes took part in the Asian Championship (South Korea): B. Nurullaev – 3rd place, I. Khalilov – 3rd place, U. Makhmudov – 6th place.

Our weightlifters took the following places at the Asian Junior Championship held this year (South Korea): U. Makhmudov took the 1st place, F. Orazimbetov took the 2nd place, and B. Kazdayev took the 3rd place.

China hosted the next continental championship. Happily, this Asian Championship has truly benefited the national team of Uzbekistan. In this competition, R. Jumamurodov won 1 silver and 2 bronze, K. Bayazitov won 3 bronze, S. Rahmonov won 1 silver and 2 bronze, U. Mahmudov won 1 gold and 2 silver, A. Azizov won 3 bronze, M. Ayupov won 3 silver medals, B. Ergashev won 3 bronze medals. This created the ground for the national team of Uzbekistan to take the 1st place overall.

8 athletes participated in the 13th Asian Games (1998, Bangkok) as part of the national team, and weightlifters of our country took the 5th place overall. I. Khalilov won a silver medal, B. Nurillayev won a bronze medal.

The Asian Championship (China) was held among teenagers and young people. The following weightlifters took part in the national team of Uzbekistan:

At the Asian Championship (Japan), I. Khalilov took the 1st place in the weight category over 105 kg, B. Nurillayev took the 2nd place in the 85 kg weight category, and F. B.Usmanov took the 1st place in the 85 kg weight category and O.Asatullayev took the 2nd place in the 94 kg weight category at the Asian Junior Championship (Korea).

The Asian Youth Championship (China) was held. 6 of our athletes took part in it: B. Usmonov (85 kg) took 1st place, S. Raupov and R. Jumamurodov (69 kg), Sh. Yusupov (77 kg), F. Najmitdinov (94 kg), A. Mar- Timyanov (+105 kg) took 3rd place.

The Asian Championship (Thailand) was held among young people and teenagers. In this continental championship, M. Togayev (62 kg), V. Ten (85 kg) took the 1st place, F. Saidov (77 kg) took the 2nd place, R. Alpanov (51 kg) took the 3rd place.

At the world championship among students (Turkey), the team of students of Uzbekistan took the 3rd place overall. B. Nuril-layev (85 kg) took the 2nd place, M. Togayev (69 kg), A. Mambekov (105 kg) took the 3rd place.

6 athletes participated in the 14th Asian Games (Korea) as part of the national team of Uzbekistan, among them; B. Nurullayev took the 3rd place in the weight category of 85 kg, I. Khalilov took the 2nd place in the weight category above 105 kg, and the overall team took the 5th place.

The Asian Championship among teenagers and young adults was held in Indonesia, where our young weightlifters M. Togayev, B. Usmanov, F. Saidov took 2nd place and Sh. Alikhojayev took 3rd place.

The World Youth Championship (Belarus) was held. B. Usmanov won a bronze medal. In the same year, M. Togayev (69 kg) and B. Usmanov (94 kg) took the 2nd place in the world championship among students (USA).

On the initiative of the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan, the Asian Championship among youth and teenagers was held in the city of Chirchik. Our weightlifters, who participated in it as part of our national team, won the following places.

At the Olympic Games (Beijing, China) Sh. Yusupov (77 kg) took 16th place and M. Chashemov (85 kg) took 7th place.

At the World Championship, the national team of Uzbekistan for the first time in its history took the 4th place overall. At the XVI Asian Games (Guangzhou, China) M. Chashimov (85 kg) 372 kg and I. Yefremov (105 kg) took 2nd place with 400 kg.

At the held World Championship (Paris), the national team of Uzbekistan won 5 tickets to the Olympic Games. Our athlete R. Nuriddinov, who showed the highest result from the national team of Uzbekistan, took the 2nd place in the deadlift (221 kg).

5 athletes from Uzbekistan took part in the Olympic Games (London, Great Britain), and two of them achieved good results. In the 105 kg weight category, R. Nuriddinov (407 kg in two fights) – 4 places and I. Yefremov (400 kg in two fights) – 5 places,

At the World Unversiade (Kazan, Russia), three of our athletes won prizes with the following results: U. Alimov in the 77 kg weight category (351 kg in two fights) – 2 places, R. Nuriddinov in the 105 kg weight category (412 kg in two fights) – 1st place and M. Mamasaliyeva in the 63 kg weight category (221 kg in two fights) – 3rd place.

8 of our athletes took part in the 2013 World Championship (Poland, Wroclaw), and two of them won prizes: U. Alimov in the 77 kg weight category (355 kg in two fights) – 3 places, R. Nuriddinov in the 105 kg weight category (425 in two fights) kg) – 1 place. R. Nuriddinov became the first world champion in weightlifting after the independence of our country.

At the 2013 Asian Championship (Astana, Kazakhstan), three of our athletes defended the honor of our country: Ruslan Nuruddinov in the 105 kg weight category (two bouts of 420 kg) – 3 gold medals, Marina Sisoyeva in the 53 kg weight category (two bouts – 186 kg) – won 2 bronze medals.

In 2013, 12 of our athletes took part in the Youth World Championship held in Tashkent, and Yoldashev Mashhurbek won 3 bronze medals by accumulating 196 kg in two fights.

8 of our athletes took part in the 17th Asian Games held in Incheon, and three of them took a place on the podium. In the 85 kg weight category Alimov Ulug’bek (369 kg in two fights) – 3 places, in the 105 kg weight category Dosmurotov Sardorbek (391 kg in two fights) – 3 places and from our women in the 48 kg weight category Togoyeva Mahliyo ( 187 kg in two fights) – took 3rd place.
